Interest-Based Negotiating Smarts
A three day course designed to enhance the negotiating skills of persons drawn from a broad variety of professional backgrounds, including business, law, health, finance, labour, government and industry. Through a combination of mini-lectures, demonstrations and experiential exercises, participants will learn specific methods and techniques which they can use to become more effective negotiators - both on-the-job, and in their personal and family lives. Topics to be covered include:
- basic negotiation theory
- interest based vs. positional bargaining
- negotiating styles
- negotiating strategies
- negotiating skills, role plays assisted negotiation e.g. mediation
- negotiating through agents
- multi-party negotiations
- telephone negotiations
- ethical issues in negotiation
Participants will receive a binder of materials and precedents and a certificate of attendance upon completion of the three day course.
